The third snow loading operation of the season is planned to start at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17.<\/p>\n<p>Snow has been slowly accumulating since the second snow loading operation ended on Sunday, January 14. Crews will pass over roads and sidewalks once more to clear accumulated snow and apply abrasives where necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This post will be updated to reflect new information as it becomes available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>General reminders:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be aware of hazards as you commute:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remember to look up &#8211; branches may crack and fall under the weight of snow, posing a safety risk.<\/li>\n<li>Remember to look down &#8211; despite our best efforts to clear the public way, rapidly changing conditions can lead to ice on roads and walkways. Dress appropriately, consider wearing ice cleats, and proceed with care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When parking your vehicle in the street, please watch for signs indicating parking restrictions and move your vehicle accordingly in advance of the snow loading. <strong>Parked vehicles that interfere with snow removal operations will be towed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>throughout the winter, the City WILL NOT PHONE RESIDENTS IN ADVANCE to remind them to move their parked vehicles; and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>towing teams WILL NO LONGER USE WARNING SIRENS, day or night, to alert residents of imminent loading operations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pay attention to parking restrictions and MOVE YOUR VEHICLE before snow removal crews arrive.\u00a0<\/strong>This makes a significant difference in the speed and efficiency of our loading operations.<\/p>\n<p>Also important, post-snowstorm:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Snow from private driveways and walkways may be added to the existing snow banks before their removal, but must never obstruct public sidewalks, lanes or streets. Fines may be levied on homeowners and\/or contractors who contravene these regulations.<\/li>\n<li>It is the responsibility of property owners to inform their contractors of these rules.<\/li>\n<li>On collection days, keep all containers out of the path of street and sidewalk plows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your cooperation truly helps us do a better job.
