The City of Westmount will mandate a mobility and safety study in the area delimited by Cedar Avenue, Sherbrooke Street, Murray Hill Avenue and Mountain Avenue (see map below).<\/p>\n
The main objective of this study is to analyze the traffic in this area, which includes several schools, to improve the mobility and safety of road users (pedestrians, motorists, etc.). Scenarios for redesigning or reconfiguring certain sections of Argyle, Metcalfe, Montrose and Kensington streets will be proposed. The study will also cover a wider area covering the entire sector potentially impacted by the proposed changes. <\/span>The study findings are expected to be presented in a report to Council in the fall of 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Why conduct a mobility and safety study in this area? \n<\/span><\/strong>Over the past two years, there have been a number of complaints and reports about the safety of road users, particularly students attending schools in the area. The City also wants to develop and secure bicycle and pedestrian paths, and also facilitate the movement of emergency vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n
The City wishes to carry out similar studies in other schools zones in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n
