Westmount, November 21, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

The City of Westmount’s municipal services have been the target of a cyberattack. The attack, which has affected several of the administration’s servers, has caused a computer outage. We are fully aware that this is a serious concern for our residents. The Council and administration are taking the situation very seriously and will do everything possible to protect the public.<\/p>\n

The Information Technology Department is working with a leading external cybersecurity firm to determine the extent of the attack and how to re-establish our systems as quickly and efficiently as possible. The City\u2019s website is unaffected.<\/p>\n

The City would like to inform its citizens that all necessary measures will be implemented to ensure that our systems can be safely restored as soon as possible. We take data security very seriously and our highest priority is the safeguarding of our residents and employee information.<\/p>\n

At this time, the City is unable to receive email messages. Citizens wishing to communicate with the City are encouraged to contact departments by phone, or to visit a service location. To view the service directory, visit www2.westmount.org\/directory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Cyberattacks are unfortunately becoming more and more prevalent and sophisticated in our society and, despite all the measures we put in place, public administrations are not completely immune to this sad reality. I want to reassure all Westmounters that our teams are working seriously and diligently to remedy this situation, and we will keep residents informed.” Mayor Christina M. Smith.<\/p>\n
