{"id":90441,"date":"2022-11-11T14:40:53","date_gmt":"2022-11-11T19:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/?p=90441"},"modified":"2022-11-11T16:43:09","modified_gmt":"2022-11-11T21:43:09","slug":"leafblowers-in-westmount","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/leafblowers-in-westmount\/","title":{"rendered":"Leafblowers in Westmount"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In accordance with the By-law on Nuisances and Public Order, leaf blowers usage is prohibited only during this period:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>From June 1<sup>st<\/sup> to September 30<\/strong><br \/>\nNon-compliance may result in a fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ban on gas-powered leaf blowers<br \/>\n<\/strong>In addition to producing unsafe noise levels at close range, gas-powered leaf blowers are very polluting and could negatively impact health due to exposure to toxic fumes. Therefore, as part of its ongoing commitment to provide Westmounters with a safe and clean environment and fight climate change, the Council initiated a process in February of 2018 to ultimately ban the use of gas-powered snowblowers. A By-law was adopted in October 2022, and the ban will come into effect on October 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2023.
