{"id":73787,"date":"2020-11-05T10:41:50","date_gmt":"2020-11-05T15:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/?p=73787"},"modified":"2020-11-05T10:41:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-05T15:41:50","slug":"flushing-in-the-water-supply-network-as-of-november-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/flushing-in-the-water-supply-network-as-of-november-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Flushing in the water supply network as of November 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Westmount\u2019s Public Works Department is carrying out directional flushing to clean the City\u2019s water distribution pipes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The sections of the network that will be flushed from November 5 are located south of The Boulevard, to the north of Chemin de la C\u00f4te Saint-Antoine and between Aberdeen Ave and Claremont Ave. Flushing operations will take place by section, between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These operations may result in short interruptions (5 to 20 min) of the water service in the areas where the operations are taking place. Residents in these sectors may also notice a slight discolouration of the water and lower pressure. This is due to the flushing process and the particles that it generates. Please note that the water remains safe to drink.<\/p>\n<p>Directional flushing uses the force of the water to remove silt, sand and other natural build-ups inside water mains. Flowing at an optimal speed, the water picks up free particles and expels them through a fire hydrant.
