In order to prevent a new upsurge in the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Gouvernement du Quebec announced on Monday, July 13 that it will be mandatory to wear a face mask or face covering in indoor public spaces<\/strong> as of Saturday, July 18, 2020. This measure applies to anyone aged 12 and over, unless they have a specific medical condition that would prevent them from wearing a mask.<\/p>\n

As a result, people who wish to visit indoor public spaces such as shops, grocery stores, shopping malls, fitness centres, etc. could be refused access if they are not wearing a mask or a face covering. The owners of these indoor public spaces will be responsible for enforcing this measure under penalty of a fine. This measure also applies to municipal buildings and places where municipal services are offered.<\/p>\n

In some public spaces such as restaurants, people will not have to wear masks at all times. They will be asked to wear the mask only when moving around inside the premises or when it is impossible to maintain 2-metre physical distance from other people inside.<\/p>\n

(Reminder: as of this Monday, July 13, the wearing of the face mask is mandatory on public transit).<\/p>\n

Please note: As of July 18, all pool users aged 12 and over must wear a face mask or face covering when walking through the Westmount Recreation Centre.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Where can you get a mask?
\n<\/strong>You can reserve and obtain a mask from the Westmount Public Safety Department by filling out an online request. Click here to reserve a face mask<\/a><\/p>\n

The Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de transports de Montr\u00e9al (STM) will also distribute masks in several m\u00e9tro stations during the week of July 13 to 17. Click here for more information<\/a><\/p>\n

Masks are also available in some pharmacies and other outlets.<\/p>\n
