{"id":15767,"date":"2015-12-01T08:56:57","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T13:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/?p=15767"},"modified":"2015-12-01T10:53:25","modified_gmt":"2015-12-01T15:53:25","slug":"westmount-participates-in-giving-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/westmount-participates-in-giving-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"WESTMOUNT participates in GIVING TUESDAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHEREAS after Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that encourage activities in support of charities and non-profit organizations;<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS Giving Tuesday was established in New York City in 2012 by the United Nations Foundation in partnership with local community-based organizations to celebrate philanthropy and volunteerism;<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS Giving Tuesday is now celebrated by more than 3,700 Canadian charities and non-profit partners and is recognized as the \u2018opening day of the holiday giving season\u2019;<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to encourage citizens to serve others throughout this holiday season and throughout the year;<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS the City of Westmount wishes to encourage its citizens to support charities within its borders;<\/p>\n<p>THEREFORE I, Mayor Peter F.
