{"id":103446,"date":"2024-08-06T08:15:39","date_gmt":"2024-08-06T12:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/?p=103446"},"modified":"2024-08-08T11:18:05","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T15:18:05","slug":"reminder-payment-of-property-taxes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/reminder-payment-of-property-taxes\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder: Payment of property taxes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the payment deadlines for both instalments of the annual property tax bills have passed, <strong>the City reminds property owners to ensure that their tax accounts are paid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that an interest rate of 9% per year will be charged on the outstanding balance of any overdue payment. A penalty of 0.5% per month on the outstanding principal will also be charged to a maximum of 5%, over and above the interest charges.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.publicationsduquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/dynamicSearch\/telecharge.php?type=2&amp;file=\/C_19\/C19.html%22%20%5ct%20%22_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Cities and Towns Act, s. 511<\/a>, allows municipalities to recover unpaid taxes by means of sale of buildings for non-payment of taxes.
