{"id":103043,"date":"2024-07-18T11:18:31","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T15:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/?p=103043"},"modified":"2024-07-18T12:19:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T16:19:19","slug":"pilot-project-claremont-triangle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/en\/pilot-project-claremont-triangle\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot project: Claremont triangle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"ui-provider dw xn jx xo xp xq xr xs xt xu xv xw xx xy xz ya yb yc yd ye yf yg yh yi yj yk yl ym yn yo yp yq yr ys yt\" dir=\"ltr\">As part of the planned <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.www2.westmount.org\/en\/project\/reconstruction-of-claremont-avenue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reconstruction of Avenue Claremont<\/a>, the City is implementing a pilot project in the triangle at the intersection of Avenues Claremont, Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce, and Westmount to respond to road safety issues raised during the public consultation held in May 2024. <\/span><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">The area also presents an opportunity for greening and more sensible use of public space, which could help to reduce heat islands. <strong><span class=\"TextRun MacChromeBold SCXW81203674 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW81203674 BCX0\">This pilot project will take place from August to November 2024.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-103155 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1-1024x569.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1-1024x569.png 1024w, https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1-768x427.png 768w, https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1-800x445.png 800w, https:\/\/www2.westmount.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/banner-2-1.png 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As part of this pilot project:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the section<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of Avenue Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce to the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">north-east<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of the triangle <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">(in red in the photo above) <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">will be closed to vehicular traffic<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to prioritize the passage of cars on Avenue Claremont:\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Avenue Claremont, north of Avenue <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Westmount,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will be made one-way southbound <\/span><\/strong>(in green, above)<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">; \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The intersections at Avenues Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce and Claremont, and Avenues Claremont and Westmount, will be redesigned;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">New signage, pavement markings and safety features will be installed.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This redesign aims to improve pedestrian crossing safety and road users experience.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Based on traffic analysis conducted beforehand, the impact on traffic flow is expected to be minimal.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The pilot project will be evaluated based on technical analyses and citizen feedback.
