On this same day 125 years ago, in 1899, our Library opened its doors for the very first time. An unforgettable day!<\/p>\n<p>Students were invited from local elementary schools to partake in the event, which followed this year&#8217;s theme for the TDSRC: To the stars. The young readers got to experience a mobile planetarium from PlateauAstro, and met the astronaut and Wesmounter Marc Garneau! This special guest read the new StoryWalk\u00ae, featuring the book <em>The Darkest Dark<\/em> by fellow astronaut Chris Hadfield with Kate Fillion and illustrated by the Fan Brothers.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Christina M. Smith gave the opening words to the event along with Children&#8217;s Librarian Wendy Wayling. Our member of the National Assembly for Westmount\u2013Saint-Louis, Jennifer Maccarone, and our member of parliament for Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce\u2014Westmount, Anna Gainey, were also present alongside municipal councillors Elisabeth Roux (Library Commissioner) and Mary Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to the TDSRC team and to TD Bank Group for this great initiative, and thank you to the Westmount Public Library staff for hosting an out-of-this-world event!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>Photo, from left to right: Wendy Wayling, Elisabeth Roux, Jennifer Maccarone, Anna Gainey, Marc Garneau, Christina M.
