An alert was issued to residents that afternoon asking them to reduce their electrical use, resulting in a much more manageable peak of 85.6MW at 6 p.m. On Tuesday morning, February 3rd, with conditions similar to Monday\u2019s weather (-21C with strong winds), we recorded a power consumption peak of 85.6MW \u2013 a 3% reduction compared to the same period on the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>Power use in excess of 90 MW can overload Westmount\u2019s network and cause service interruptions. In addition, the cost of using additional energy during peak winter periods is extremely high, and borne by Hydro Westmount and its customers. Because of your efforts this past Monday and Tuesday, everyone benefits.
