Waterworks in the area of Belmont Crescent, King George Park and Murray Ave. Murray

Start of works :
27 May 2024

Duration of works :
approximately 7 weeks

Work details
The City of Westmount will undertake a water main rehabilitation project on Belmont Crescent, Murray Avenue, North of Montrose, and extend into King George Park. This work is necessary to ensure a reliable water network, a continuous supply of drinking water to the community, and adequate fire protection in the area by rehabilitating ageing infrastructure.

Expected impact of work – King George Park
Excavation work is required at two (2) punctual areas within King George Park to complete the water main rehabilitation work, as shown in the image below (red squares). The blue line represents the water main that will be rehabilitated. These excavations are limited in size and are for insertion points to allow for the lining of the water main. An excavation through the park will NOT be carried out as part of this project.

Expected impact of work – Neighbouring streets
To complete the work, water closures may be required in the project zone and on adjacent streets. Notice of any water interruption will be given 24-48 hours in advance. Roads will be closed to non-local traffic, and detour routes will be provided. Street parking will be removed on Belmont Cr. and Murray Av. North of Montrose for the duration of the project. Access to walkways will be maintained, and vehicular access to driveways/garages will be maintained wherever possible.
