Subsidy for the replacement of lead or galvanised steel private water service entries
Westmount residents can now apply for a subsidy to replace lead or galvanised steel private water services. The subsidy application form is available on the Citizen Portal.
The City’s Engineering Department developed this programme as part of Westmount’s Lead Action Plan, and to encourage residents to undertake these works that will help reduce the amount of lead in their drinking water.
This subsidy covers 25% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $2,500 (taxes included). An amount of $500,000 has been allocated for this subsidy program in the City’s budget for 2024 and applications will be accepted until the funds earmarked for this programme for the calendar year are exhausted. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and the program is retroactive to January 1, 2023.
