Reminder: 2025 Earth Day Activities

In celebration of Earth Day 2025, the City is organizing a number of activities throughout the months of April and May to educate, raise awareness and take eco-friendly action. These free activities are offered to residents by registration only. Space is limited! Book your place online on the event page listed in the Events Calendar.

Tuesday, April 22

  • Earth Day Quiz
    4 to 5 p.m. — Westmount Public Library
    How much do you really know about plastic? Children from 7 to 12 years old are invited to participate in this special programme led by local author Megan Durnford.

  • Tree Tour in Westmount Park
    4:30 to 5:30 p.m. — Meet in front of the Conservatory
    Learn about the fascinating history and unique characteristics of the trees that adorn our stunning Westmount Park during a guided tour with the City’s arborist. Space is limited to 20 participants.

Saturday, April 26

  • Household Hazardous Waste Collection
    9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — parking lot of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf (4670 Sainte-Catherine Street West) *NEW LOCATION
    Take part in the biannual collection for household hazardous waste and electronics. New this year, car and small truck tires are now accepted! No registration necessary.

  • The Big Cleanup at Westmount Park
    1:30 to 3 p.m. — Meet in front of the Westmount Public Library
    Rain or shine, let’s get together to clean up our beautiful shared green space in the lead up to summer!

Saturday, May 24

  • Conference and workshop by Incita: Mieux gérer ses matières résiduelles et fabriquer ses produits ménagers (in French)
    1 to 3 p.m. — Victoria Hall
    Come and demystify waste materials management at home, at the office or at school through materials sorting and the 4Rs: refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle. This activity is given in French only.

  • Repair Workshop by Les Affutés: Repairing small electrical appliances
    1 to 4 p.m. – Victoria Hall
    This theoretical and practical workshop will teach you how to diagnose and repair common appliances. Registration is limited to 10 participants!

  • Trash2Treasure: Collection of Household Items in Good condition
    Collection by appointment
    Yard sale: weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 22 to June 2
    Divert reusable goods from landfill by redistributing them to the community and charitable organizations! Household items including furniture, housewares, decorations, clothing and more are collected, then made available to the public in a daily yard sale at the southwest entrance to Westmount Park (De Maisonneuve Boul. and Lansdowne Ave.).
