Inauguration of Summit Circle walking path
The official inauguration of the new Summit Woods walking path took place July 20th at the east end of the new pathway in the presence of Westmount Mayor Christina Smith and former Westmount Mayor Peter F. Trent.
Before cutting the ceremonial ribbon, Councillor Cynthia Lulham, Commissioner of Sustainable Development and Parks, emphasized the planning and investment at the municipal and provincial levels that made the naturalization project possible. The project includes the replacement of the asphalt road with a gravel path, the installation of a new stone lookout with a view to the east, and new plantings of trees and other vegetation.
This event marks the culmination of years of planning and many months of work to restore and naturalize this section of Summit Circle. The project re-connects the north and south flanks of the summit – one of the three peaks of Mount Royal – into a contiguous wooded area.
