Concert: Archetype Trad

The concert “Explorer” presented by Archetype Trad, is a journey to the east of the country, from Quebec to Newfoundland. Traditional fiddle music is sublimated and renewed through the arrangements and original compositions of Kate Bevan-Baker and Émilie Brûlé. Their instrumentation around the fiddle offers a variety of tessituras that form their unique sound: fiddle in a rumble, tuned as a hurdy-gurdy, baroque, 5-string and bowed fiddle are featured. The program includes traditional music from Quebec, Acadian music from New Brunswick and Cape Breton, juxtaposed with older music from Scotland, music from Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland from both French and English-speaking communities, and music from Ireland that has spread to the eastern part of our country.
