Message from the Mayor: The Safety and Security of Westmounters is a Top Priority
Recent events in the Middle East have had repercussions in Montreal, leading to demonstrations that often have started in Montreal and ended in Westmount.
Many residents in our community have reached out to me to express their concerns about the impact on their businesses and their quality of life. We in turn have been in regular contact with the SPVM, which is solely responsible for the awarding of permits for demonstrations and monitoring marches and protests.
I am posting for your information a recent update from the SPVM, which is reassuring. At the same time Council appreciates the need to be vigilant and for your concerns to be taken into account if the situation persists. Please rest assured that my colleagues and I will continue to maintain a constructive dialogue with the SPVM and representatives of the different levels of government.
At the same time, we urge you to call the SPVM immediately if you see anything concerning.
